Guna Millersone lives and creates her artworks in Talsi – the town in the heart of the West of Latvia. She has been a participant of personal and group exhibitions, as well as an author of numerous art projects, publications and catalogues there and elsewhere in the world, at the same time spending most of her regular time faithfully serving the Talsi Regional Museum.

The leading principle of Guna Millersone as a painter is to follow the call of art. Thus working she avoids worrying about the latest art tendencies and the potential succession of her own artistic style.

Her old artworks obviously show how important the process of painting is to her.

Wherever she is – in Talsi or Pedvale, in Mazirbe, Kandava, Zvartava or Venice, her eyes and mind are focused on nature and its instant depiction on canvas. The colouring is the main mean of her imagery. The motives of gardens, ponds, marshy landscapes and sunlit seashores take hold of diverse meanings, auras and something of a grasp of the individual feelings, having roots into the philosofically eternal depth and the real existance, coming out as with a quality fulfilled views of time, space and nature of her own colouring solvation or multicolouring radiance. Her artworks are based on watchfulness and ability to express the individually pictorial story. The manner of her painting can be characterised as the abstract expressionism possesing a trend of romantism.

Her colour strokes are powerful and line patterns have their symbolic temper, on the one hand remaining into a real imagery system and having a feeling of story, on the other hand being generally flexible and allowing the viewers contemplate on what they see. Her artworks prove the world view of Guna Millersone as being a significant and heartfelt experience. She definitely deserves a particular position within today’s environment of modern art.
